Born in Washington State, Emma Lu Snider studied creative writing at The Evergreen State College. She had been painting and drawing since childhood and explored mixed media work starting in her teens and these practices remained prevalent in my life throughout my schooling. Following graduation, a chance encounter pulled her into the film industry in Los Angeles. She spent six years working in practical effects for film and television, where she specialized in creature fabrication and anatomical realism.
In 2021, Snider stepped away from the film industry to direct all of my creative energy to her art. Since then, she has exhibited with multiple galleries in Downtown Los Angeles and throughout Southern California. She enjoys popping up at DTLA Art Night most months, is a recurring guest at The Hive Gallery and Studio, and recently became a resident artist at the Uncool Gallery in NYC.
